About my way of working
I trained in person-centred therapy, which places the therapeutic relationship as central to healing. I have a background in psychology and mental health, which expands my way of working therapeutically.
I bring presence, genuineness, and curiosity to our sessions while you explore at your own pace. I follow your lead without being passive, encouraging dialogue and collaboration, so we can build the space in which you feel truly seen and understood. Often this means reconnecting with experiences that have been suppressed, or making space for parts of yourself that have felt conflicted or rejected, so that by processing them in a safe relational environment, integration and change become possible.
In my practice, I often find different ways of accessing experience can be helpful, e.g. journalling, metaphor, images, poetry, body awareness, and I'll encourage these when appropriate.
I hold regular clinical supervision, and I am fully insured, working in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I continue to undertake additional training to deepen my understanding and develop my practice. I am also open to other healing modalities, and I believe counselling can work very well alongside spiritual, creative and somatic practices.
I offer in-person sessions in Leith, Edinburgh, and online sessions worldwide. I work Tuesday to Saturday, with in-person appointments available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
In-person availability is currently very limited, with single slots open on some days of the week. If you're thinking about starting therapy, or would like to be added to the waiting list for a specific day or time, please get in touch via my calendar below or by email.
The standard session is 50 minutes weekly, offered on a sliding scale between £45 - £70, with the standard fee being £60. Please look at the Green Bottle illustration as a starting point for reflecting on what you can afford for weekly sessions. If you have a stable income or financial support available, paying the full fee or above (£60+) makes it possible for me to offer more reduced-fee slots. You can read more about the model here.
Frequency
I find a consistent weekly pace the most supportive of the therapeutic process, although I understand that not everyone is able to do that. However, if the reason for considering a bi-weekly pace is financial, I would encourage a conversation about a lower fee that would potentially allow you to attend weekly.
Book a free initial call
If you're considering starting therapy, you can book a free 20-minute call via my online calendar below. There is no pressure or commitment at this stage - the aim is to get a sense of whether I am the right therapist for you, check if our schedules are compatible and for me to answer any questions you might have.
